Organizational research is done to verify or clarify impressions that organizational leaders have about their organization. Systematic scientific research helps people to better understand what problems or issues exist in the organization, where in the organization those problems or issues are located, and how intensely the problems or issues are felt by different categories of people (e.g. employees, leaders, men/women, etc.). Survey reports usually provide quantified findings using statistical procedures to help measure perceptions more precisely than can be done with general impressions. For a more detailed outline of the process we use in doing organizational surveys, please click on the "Downloadable Papers" button, select "Surveys" then select the paper "Steps in Designing, Administering, and Reporting Organizational Surveys."
